Donnie Ray Walters, Sr., 69, of Kountze, died Thursday, January 29, 2015.  He was born on August 30, 1945, in Honey Island, to Lodis Marie McCauley Walters and Roman Walters.  A lifelong resident of Kountze, Donnie worked at Bethlehem Steel and Paperboard Cord.

He will be loved and missed by his wife of thirty-five years, Wanda Sue Walters; son, Donnie Ray Walters, Jr. and his wife, Rachel, of Lumberton; daughters, Penny Bergeron and her husband, Eddie and Heidi Walters, all of New Orleans, Louisiana; stepson, Richard Hartley and his wife, Claudia, of Conway, Arkansas; stepdaughter, Veronica Hartley of Groves; sisters, Elizabeth Sprouce and her husband, Richard, of Humble and Carrie Walters Davis of Kountze; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roman (Buckshot) Walters; mother, Lodis Walters; and brother, R.J. Walters.

A gathering of Mr. Walters’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2015, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Holland Cemetery, Kountze.
