William “Bill” Smith, 74, of Kountze, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Christus Hospital St.Elizabeth, Beaumont.  He was born on July 17, 1940, in Jasper, to Ruby Arnold Smith and Talmadge Smith.  Bill was a United States Navy veteran and a retired truck driver.

Survivors include his children, Robert Smith and his wife, Elsa, of Houston; Bubba Smith; and Tabitha  Hargraves Pritchett and her husband, Greg, all of Kountze; sister, Betty Horne and her husband, Jim, of Jasper; brother, Talmadge Smith and his wife, Gloria, of Leander; grandchildren, Wesley Smith, Elisha James, Megan Hargraves, Collin Smith, Christian Long, Daniel Smith, Larissa Smith; great-grandchildren, Sabrina Smith, Jayden James, and Skylar James; sisters-in-law, Sandy Mills and Wilma Taylor; and his dog, Little Bit.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Laird Smith; and son-in-law, Gary Hargraves.

A gathering of Mr. Smith’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2015, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Magnolia Springs Cemetery, Kirbyville.
