Georgia R. McAlpin, 66, of Beaumont, died Sunday, January 18, 2015, after a long illness, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.  She was born on December 16, 1948, to Johnnie Fain and Joe Romero, in Houston.

She graduated from Milby High School, Houston, and thereafter graduated from Sacred Heart University, San Antonio, with a degree in spiritual direction. Georgia was an avid bowler until her illness made bowling impossible. She still supported her husband in his bowling activities and assisted as a youth coach at Crossroads Bowling Lanes.

Georgia is survived by her husband, Jerry McAlpin; and son, Joe Reynolds and friend, Samantha McKnight, of Spring.

A Christian Vigil for Mrs. Georgia will be at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of her family and friends to follow until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Beaumont.
