Onita Marie McMahon 
October 9, 1920 - January 16, 2015

Onita Marie McMahon, 94, of Sour Lake, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on October 9, 1920, to Ida Elizabeth Parr and Christopher Columbus Parr, in Bedias, Texas.

 

Onita was a longtime member of Livingston Church of Christ and a current member of Ridgewood Church of Christ, Beaumont. She was also a former member of Forest Trail Sweet Adeline International Chorus.

 

She is survived by her son, Jack McMahon and his wife, Helen, of Cibolo; daughter, Sheri A. McMahon-Strawther and her husband, Cliff, of Sour Lake; stepdaughters; Mary Louise Callier and her husband, Phillip, of Deer Park and Madeleine A. Miller of San Antonio; grandchild, Sean Strawther and his wife, Michelle, of Sour Lake; great-grandchildren; Braden Strawther and Ethan Strawther; and nephew, J.D. Parr.

 

Onita is preceded in death by her husband, Josh A. McMahon, Jr.; her parents; and brothers, J.D. Parr and James Parr.

 

A gathering of Mrs. McMahon’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Broussard’s, with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m., at South Park Cemetery, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland.
