Raymond Lee Adaway, Sr., 59, of Port Neches, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015. He was born December 7, 1955, in Nederland, to Emma Savoy Adaway and Wilson Adaway, Sr. Raymond spent over thirty-five years as a captain in the merchant marine industry. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and natural leader.

Raymond is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Liz Adaway of Port Neches; daughters, Christine McNeely and her husband, Jeff, of Groves and Jessica Adaway, of Mauriceville; son, Raymond Adaway, Jr. and his wife, Keziah, of Dripping Springs; grandchildren, Christien Ray, Kylie, Zadrian, Kaylee, and Isabella; brothers, James Adaway and his wife, Shirley, of Woodville; Brian Adaway of Vidor; Michael Adaway and his wife, Marilyn, of Port Arthur; Leroy Adaway and his wife, Kathleen, of Zavalla; Ernest Adaway and his wife, Susan, of Port Arthur; and Wilson Adaway, Jr. of Nederland; sisters, Emma Creel and her husband, Randy, of Vidor; Patricia Sehon of Port Acres; Stacy Ward and her husband, Chris, of Port Neches; and Mary Windham and her husband, Jerry, of Nederland.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Wilson Adaway, Sr.; brothers, William Gallier, Sr., Marvin Gallier, and Steven Adaway.

A gathering of Mr. Adaway’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Broussard’s with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
