Edna "Betty" Elizabeth Sherman 
July 23, 1925 - January 10, 2015

Edna Elizabeth “Betty” Sherman passed away on January 10, 2015. She was born on July 23, 1925, in Brownsville, Texas. Her parents were Bernard “Ben” and Laura Hesseling. She graduated from Brownsville High School and went to a business class. She then went into training for Western Union and worked there for many years. Betty met Jim Bob Sherman and they were married on April 24, 1954. They moved and resided in Beaumont, where they lived most of their lives and moved to Lumberton about twenty-seven years ago.

 

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Sherman; and brother, Bob Hesseling

 

She is survived by her children, Ben Sherman and his wife, Gina; Jimmy Sherman and his wife, Sue; Jim Bob Sherman, Jr. and his wife, Maxine; and Linda Gernentz; grandchildren, Kyle Gernentz, Kerrie Fredericks, Kevin Gernentz, Kurtis Gernentz, Jim Bob Sherman III, David Sherman, Michelle Sherman, Trisha Sherman, Tamara Sherman, Mark Sherman, Eric Sherman; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Sherman’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Highway 90 West at Green Pond Road, Beaumont.
