George Herman Caldwell 
November 15, 1929 - January 4, 2015

George Herman Caldwell, 85, of Nederland, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Oak Grove Nursing Facility, Groves. He was born on November 15, 1929, in Waldo, Arkansas, to Johnny Sanders and Ohlen Caldwell, and had been a longtime resident of the area. 

George grew up in Camden, Arkansas and lived most of his adult life in Nederland. He worked for Singer Sewing Center for over twenty years before retiring from Southern Union Gas. George loved to go to the “Pea Patch” and “The Babe” Golf Course.

Survivors include his brothers, Frankie Caldwell and his wife, Edna, of Conway, Arkansas and Ronnie Caldwell of Nederland; children, Linda Buteaux of Port Arthur; Sheila Talakoub and her husband, Hasan, of Beaumont; and Ray Sanders and his wife, Pam, of Virginia; ten grandkids; sixteen great-grandkids; and two great–great grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorraine Clay.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to all his friends that included him in their daily activities. A special thanks to our new friend, Maggie, that made his last days memorable and to the caring staff at Oak Grove Nursing Facility and to the staff of Gentiva Hospice.

A gathering of Mr. Caldwell’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue, Nederland, with entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
