June Rogers
June 30, 1928 - January 4, 2015

June Rogers, 86, of Beaumont, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on June 30, 1928, in East McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Nettie and Harry Shapiro, and was a resident of the Beaumont area for 65 years.

Junie, as she was affectionately known, never uttered an unkind word about anyone. She was one of a kind with a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making others feel welcomed and comfortable.

One of six children, she grew up in a close-knit family, whose bonds of devotion to ‎each other remained unbroken throughout their lives.

Exquisitely beautiful inside and out, June radiated elegance and class. She was a prominent fashion model before marrying Victor, whose portrait she kept within sight until her passing.

‎A kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, June taught her family the importance of integrity, honesty, humility, generosity and gratitude. Even the smallest gesture of kindness was deeply felt and always appreciated.

June is survived by her son, J. W. Rogers and his wife, Debbie, of Beaumont; daughter, Lauren Rogers Freedman, of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Rachel Carlson and her husband, Don, of Baltimore, Maryland; Jon Freedman and Marissa Freedman, both of California; sister, Lolly Klein and her husband, Herbie, of Houston; and many nieces and nephews, who adored her.

June was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Victor J. Rogers; daughter, Melissa Rogers; parents; sister, Florence Finger; and brothers, Herbert, Sammy, and Wilbur Shapiro.

The family extends special thanks to Fidel Rico, Marie Briggs, and Jorge Alvarez for their extraordinary and loving care of both June and Victor Rogers. They also convey appreciation to Dr. Jeremy Huff, Dr. Dan Harmon, Dr. Randy Lombardo, the caregivers provided by Quality Care and the physicians and staff associated with Professional Healthcare.

Her memorial service will be conducted by Rabbi Joshua Taub at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, at Temple Emanuel, 1120 Broadway.
