Max Ikari, 84, of Port Arthur, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014. He was born November 30, 1930, in San Mateo, California, to Tsuya Kitajima and Hidekichi Ikari. Max was a veteran of the United States Army having served our country in the Korean War.

He enjoyed softball and bowling. Max was a Karate instructor in Japan and received his black belt. Max won awards in golfing and marksmanship with rifles; and was very involved with Junior Achievement for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Milagros “Mita” Ikari of Port Arthur; son, Bryan Ikari of San Diego, California; and sisters, Florence Yamada of Sacramento, California and Mary Kobayashi of Concord, California.

A gathering of Mr. Ikari’s family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with his Rosary recited at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January, 5, 2015, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with his entombment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
