Carl K. Gentry, 78, of LaBelle, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, to join Jesus on his Birthday. He was born on January 3, 1936, in Woodsboro, to Louise and Carl B. Gentry.

Carl moved to LaBelle four years ago when he wed Twalla Johnson and became a member of LaBelle Baptist Church.  His Ministry for the Lord was taking care of the building and grounds at his church.  Carl joined the Navy right after graduating high school and served for four years.  He owned Gentry Plumbing before working and retiring from Holt Cat after thirty-five years as a mechanic. Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, drawing and writing poetry to his wife, Twalla.  He loved to travel with his wife and take in all the Lord’s creations.  Carl loved riding his motorcycle through the country side and looking at nature as God’s gift to us. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; he loved family.  Carl loved playing golf with his best friend Lane Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Twalla Gentry of Labelle; sons, Carl Reid Gentry and daughter-in-law, Margaret Gentry, of Hubbard and Thomas Earl Gentry and wife, Judy Ann, of Dale; daughter,  Shari Gentry of Hubbard; five step-kids and their spouses all of Mid-County; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren;  and sister, Billie Radford and her husband, Bud, of Centerville. Carl was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Mr. Gentry’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Labelle Baptist Church, 9400 FM 365, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2014, at Labelle Baptist Church, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Fairview Cemetery, Northwest 2nd Street, Hubbard. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Gentry’s memory to the Labelle Baptist Church Building Fund, 9400 FM 365, Beaumont, Texas 77705.
