Van L. Vanover 
December 24, 1940 - December 25, 2014

Van L. Vanover, 74, of Sour Lake, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Houston. He was born on December 24, 1940, to Louise Vawter and Cecil Vanover, in Port Arthur. Van worked as an insurance agent for Gulf Coast Insurance.

 

Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Joan Vanover; daughters, Robyn Reimer and her husband, Mark, of Sour Lake; Shelley McDonald and her husband, Tim, of Pearland; and Shanna Harris and her husband, Travis, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Ty Reimer, Holley Moreau, Cody Sanders, Shelby Sanders, Karley Harris, and Hayden McDonald; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary Vanover of Austin and Paul Vanover of Indiana; and his dog and companion, Hallie.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, J.C. and Betty Vanover.

 

A gathering of Mr. Vanover’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2014, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
