Benjamin "Ben" Edward Jameson
September 20, 1923 - December 22, 2014

Benjamin Edward Jameson died peacefully at home on December 22, 2014.

Ben was born on September 20, 1923, in Houston, to William Hall and Florence Jameson née McAllister. He graduated from San Jacinto High School. In 1943, he answered his country's call and served in the Army Air Corp stationed on Saipan as a radar repair technician for the B-17. After the war, Ben attended University of Houston and Rice University. On a blind date in December 1945, he met his future wife, Doreen Braun, the daughter of German farmers from Carmine, Texas. On November 15, 1946, they were married in Houston.

Before settling in Beaumont, Ben and Doreen made homes in Houston, LaMarque, Tyler, Memphis, Tennessee, and Louisville, Kentucky. Doreen worked in the home and Ben supported his family with a career in sales. He developed a joy in gardening providing his many friends and family with sweet delicious fruit from his tangelo, satsuma, and grapefruit trees. One of his favorite plantings was a full flowering bed of Texas bluebonnets.

Ben enjoyed attending St. Mark's Men's Prayer Breakfast for many years. He was a faithful member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church since moving to Beaumont in 1960.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, William B. Jameson and Jane Milton.

Mr. Jameson is survived by his wife, Doreen; sister, Martha Lewis (Allen) of Houston; and eight children, Martha Giarratano (Joe), Valera Messer, Edward (Evelyn) of Beaumont; Ben (Helen), Charlie (Cindy) of Tyler; Betsy Seiler (Keith) of Issaquah, Washington; Patricia House (Don) of Austin; and Patrick (Missy) of The Woodlands. He leaves fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for his daughter, Valera, who cared for him at his home over the course of his final years. We also thank the nursing staff and Reverend Wayne Monk of Professional Home and Hospice for their excellent care.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2014, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont, with a gathering of family and friends to follow the service until 2:00 p.m.
