Gladys C. Clayton, 85, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014. She was born on April 23, 1929, in Cedardale, Oklahoma, to Lena Gaber and John W. Sears, and had been a longtime resident of the area.

Gladys was well-known for baking pies and loved singing in the choir and playing the piano. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and being a Sunday school teacher. Gladys was classy, gentle, and took pride in being a wife, grandma, great- grandma, and recently a great- great grandma.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68+ years, John Clayton; daughters, Carolyn Brady and her husband, Joe, of Dallas; Patty Jo Howie and her husband, Colin, of Beaumont, and Holly Petrie and her husband, Daniel, of Vidor; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Marvin Sears and his wife, Ramona, of Toppenish, Washington.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; son, Dean Clayton; and four brothers.

A gathering of Mrs. Clayton’s family and friends will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2014, at Cedardale Cemetery, Mooreland, Oklahoma, under the direction of Billings Funeral Home, Woodward, Oklahoma.
