Mary Elizabeth Stafford, 86, of Sour Lake, died Monday, December 15, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on February 5, 1928, to Iola W. Jackson and Marshall Walker Hutson, in Eudora, Arkansas. Mary served on the Sour Lake City Council.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Stafford and his wife, Becky, of Crystal Beach; daughter, Kay Gault and her husband, Richard, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Kari Oaks and her husband, Andy, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Chris Gault and Karen Gault, both of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Jacob Oaks and Cayman Oaks.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Iola Walters; husband, Leo Dennis Stafford; and sister, Alyce Deal.

A gathering of Mary’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.
