Emma Gene Neel, 86, of Sour Lake, died Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Scott and White Hospital, College Station. She was born on March 21, 1928, to Jessie Michell Talley and Johnnie Talley, in Orange. She touched the lives of many as a teacher in Hardin-Jefferson ISD.

Survivors include her daughters Sherry Williams of Sour Lake and Debbie Wammel and her husband, Art, of Bellville. She is also survived by three grandchildren Jonathon Williams and his wife, Teresa, and Jeff Williams, all of Sour Lake and Allison Wammel and Aaron Steins of Houston. She was blessed with six beloved great-grandchildren Brian Berry, Hunter Williams, Gabby Williams, all of Sour Lake, Abbie Williams, Seth Williams, and Emma Williams, all of Lumberton.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wallace Lloyd Neel, Jr.

Mrs. Neel’s memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, and will be conducted by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2014, at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Wammel, Aaron Steines, Jonathon Williams, Jeff Williams, Brian Berry, Hunter Williams, and Seth Williams.
