R.V. "Bama" Rivon 
June 29, 1936 - December 12, 2014



Raymond Verr (R. V.) “Bama” Rivon, 78, of Double Bayou, died Friday, December 12, 2014.  A native and lifelong resident of the area, he was born on June 29, 1936 to Roxie Smith and Leonard Rivon, Sr. in Chambers County. 


Knowing the only way to heaven was through Christ Jesus, Bama accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bright Light Missionary Baptist Church in Anahuac, Texas.  He was a faithful member until his illness.


R. V. retired as a General Forman from Local 313.  He was a volunteer at the Oak Island/Double Bayou Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Leonard Rivon, Jr. and Richard Rivon, and sisters: Loraine Alfred and Jeannette Nichols.


He leaves to cherish his precious memories to his loving wife of fifty-seven and a half years, Cora Lee Rivon of Anahuac; sons: Raymond D. Rivon (Mollie) and Preston Rivon, both of Double Bayou and Henry Rivon (Kelley) of Oak Island; daughter: Delma Lee (Herman) of Kendleton; brother: Davis Rivon (Kay Lynn) of Anahuac; sister: Lois Haskins (Delmar) of Hankamer; ten grandchildren; several foster grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and godchild, Kim Whittington of Sour Lake, and a host of other relatives and friends.


A gathering of Mr. Rivon’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Bright Light Baptist Church, 504 FM 2041, Anahuac, with interment to follow at Rivon Cemetery, Anahuac. Services are under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.
