Betty Fontenot, 78, of Nederland, died Friday, December 12, 2014, at Magnolia Manor, Groves. She was born on February 29, 1936, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Hilda Cormier and Sidney Richard, and had been a longtime resident of the area.

Survivors include her son, Dale Fontenot and his wife, Maria, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Sherrie Fontenot and Brandie Fontenot; sisters, Jackie Steele, Charline Andrepont, and Cheryl Granger; brothers, Kermit Richard and Joseph Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Fontenot; and brother, Bobby.

A gathering of Mrs. Fontenot’s family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass opf Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 15, 2014, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Orange.
