Martha Elizabeth Bookman 
September 7, 1921 - December 7, 2014

Martha Elizabeth Bookman, 93, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 7, 2014. She was born on September 7, 1921, to Berta Belle Davis Bown and Walter Truman Bown, and had been a longtime time resident of the area. Martha was a retired real estate agent with Scott Ernest Company, Houston.

 

She was an avid fan of Texas A&M and a member of the 12th Man Foundation since 1985. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and leaves many to mourn her at the bridge studio.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Grace Levacy and her husband, Richard A. Levacy, M.D., of Beaumont; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Ann Hamilton of Boerne; grandchildren, Ronald W. Bookman III of Richardson, William Daniel Bookman of Boerne, David Eugene Nichols of Prague, Czech Republic, Michael Bookman Nichols of Austin, Catherine Anne Levacy Cockrell of Beaumont, and Elizabeth Anton Levacy of Fort Worth; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald W. Bookman, Sr.; and sons, Ronald W. Bookman, Jr. and William Truman Bookman.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Bookman’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  Her graveside service will be 3:00 p.m., Friday afternoon at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston.
