Eugene Louis Volcik, 85, of Winnie, died Friday, December 5, 2014. He was born on May 7, 1929, in El Campo, to Mary Raaz and Frank Louis Volcik.

Eugene worked at Texas Gulf Sulphur Company for 34 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Eugene enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and sharing with friends and family.

He is survived by his daughters, Valerie Leger and her husband, Mike, and Marianne DeYoung and her husband, Kenny, all of Winnie, and Darla Lemaire of Groves; son, Wesley Volcik and his wife, Lisa, of Norman, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jeremy Greer and his wife, Jessica, of Winnie; Lindsay Oxford of Beaumont; Zach Leger of Winnie; Michael DeYoung and his wife, Brandi, of Winnie; Bailey Smith of Beaumont; Colby Volcik and Alissa Volcik of Norman Oklahoma; and six great-grandchildren.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eileen Volcik; sisters, Emma Waligura and Mary Stehno; brother, John Volcik; and son-in-law, Michael Lemaire.

A gathering of Mr. Volcik’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2014, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie. His interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
