Nathaniel McCardell, Jr.

December 9, 1963 – November 20, 2014

Nathaniel McCardell, Jr. passed away at his home in Port Neches, TX early Thursday morning on November 20, 2014. He was born to Ida Gray (formerly Ida Woods) on December 9, 1963 in Goodrich, Texas. He was raised by Tommie and Ida Gray in Livingston, Texas where he graduated from Livingston High School in 1983. He then continued his education and played football for Lamar University where he received an Associates’ degree in Business, a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and recently a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. His professional career included working eleven years for Wal-Mart, Goodyear, and from 2004 until the time of his death he was a Coach, and Health/Physical ED teacher for BISD.

For 21 years he was married to Terrie McCardell (formerly Terrie Ard) and three children were born to them. Nathaniel is survived by his wife Shelia; son Shane McCardell and his wife, Sorah Chea, of San Antonio; daughter Adrianne McCardell of Sunnyvale CA; son Jordan McCardell of Beaumont; father and mother Tommie and Ida Gray of Nacogdoches; sister Lora Malveaux and her husband Philip Malveaux of Katy; sister Pam Daly and her husband Edward Daly of Houston; sister Jaqueline Gray of Houston; nephew/brother Shawn Jeffries and his wife Genesia of Columbia TN; niece/goddaughter Star Broussard and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

After the funeral service today, Nathaniel’s body will be laid to rest at New Hope cemetery in Goodrich, Texas. Family and friends will have an opportunity to spend time together at the Catfish King on 1100 Hwy 59 Loop N. Livingston, TX, after the graveside service.
