Dee P. Bryan 
October 30, 1922 - October 25, 2014

Dee P. Bryan, who was born October 30, 1922 in Louisville, Kentucky to Rev. J.D. and Julia Pickens, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2014 while in the Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. She was raised in Alabama and graduated Judson College. She and her husband, Dr. John J. Bryan, lived in Bluefield, West Virginia for many years. While there, Mrs. Bryan was active in the Women’s Missionary Union and served on the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board as the first female area director. In 1987, they moved to Waco where they lived for eighteen years. After the death of her husband in 2004, she moved to Buckner Calder Woods Retirement Community in Beaumont. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Reverend James G. Pickens. She is survived by her brother, Julian Pickens and his wife, Marilyn, of Sun Lakes, Arizona; daughters, Celia Griggs and her husband, Bill, of Nederland; Dee Alice Brentlinger and her husband, Gary, of Houston; and Paige Chastain and her husband, Jay, of Longview. She has 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her family will miss her deep abiding faith, prayerful example, and love of the Lord. The graveside service will be on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery Lawndale in Houston.
