Paul Howard Broussard, Sr.
December 5, 1925 - October 26, 2014

Paul Howard Broussard, Sr., 88, of Beaumont, died Sunday, October 26, 2014. He was born on December 5, 1925, in Abbeville, Louisiana, to Nita Landry Broussard and Eli Broussard. Paul attended school in Milton, Louisiana. He worked for Shepherd’s Laundry in his early years before going to work for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) as an electrician. Paul retired from TxDOT on September 30, 1993.

He kept busy, especially after he retired, doing all his favorite things. Paul enjoyed hunting and camping with his two sons, Paul and Myron, in the fall. He also liked planting and harvesting a bountiful crop of tomatoes in the spring. He had a penchant for cooking and a love for a big pot of gumbo. Paul’s favorite things to do were spending time with his family and attending daily mass at St. Anne Catholic Church. For many years, he was one of the “early morning saints” at 6:27 a.m. mass at St. Anne.

Survivors include his sons, Paul Broussard, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Beaumont and Myron M. Broussard of Liberty; granddaughter, Augusta Broussard of Beaumont; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Earline Broussard; his parents; his brothers, Rex and Harvey; and his sisters, Lena and Rosie.

The family would like to thank the many hands and hearts that have been present, especially over the past five weeks, including the staff that cared for Pop on the telemetry floor of St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially Sister Jessy. We thank Charlie Crabbe, Pop’s friend and neighbor. We also thank Dr. Tim Colgan and Dr. Al Brady for their dedication and attention they gave our father.

A gathering of Mr. Broussard’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Griggs Cemetery in Newton, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Street, Beaumont, Texas 77702.
