Robert "Mel" Melvin Daniel 
November 25, 1938 - October 26, 2014

Robert Melvin "Mel" Daniel, 75, died Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston. He was a native Texan born in Kirbyville on November 25, 1938, to Lura Mae Alcott Daniel and Robert David Daniel. Mel was a United States Army veteran in the 101st Airborne Division and a retired Operations Process Superintendent from the Petrochemical Industry. Mel worked in the Middle East and traveled extensively with his wife and children. They resided in Dubai, UAE for an extended period of time when it was a third world country without consistent electricity or running water. He and his family considered it quite the adventure! Mel and his family repatriated to the United States with he and his former wife eventually settling in Beaumont making him a long time resident.

 

He is survived by Eugenia Abel Daniel; daughters, Dana Daniel Breaux and her husband Daniel and Lezlie Daniel Burton and her husband Jay; son, Scott David Daniel and his wife, Yvette; brother, Jim Daniel; grandchildren, Laine Dornbos and her husband, Bobby; Emily Daniel and her fiancé, Adam; Robert David Daniel; and Kendall Grace Burton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Erin Elizabeth Daniel; brothers, Gerald Daniel and Dub Daniels; and sister, Jeaniece Barclay.

 

A gathering of Mr. Daniel’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Broussards, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
