Josephine Barras 
January 26, 1930 - October 21, 2014

Josephine Quesada Barras, 84, of Katy, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at MD Anderson Cancer Center - Houston. She was born on January 26, 1930, to Josephine and David Quesada, in Port Arthur, and later resided in Beaumont.

 

Survivors include her sons, David Barras and his wife, Yvonne, of Houston and Randy and his wife, Julie, of Houston; grandchildren, Beau Barras and Zach Barras; cousin, Helen Dominguez and her husband, Joe; brother-in-law, Roger Barras and his wife, Katy; sister-in-law, Karen Barras; and extended family.

 

Preceding her in death are her mother, Josephine Quesada; father, David Quesada; and her husband, Randolph Barras.

 

Josie was a graduate of the Baptist School of Nursing and spent fifteen years as a school nurse at Sallie Curtis and Regina Howell Elementary Schools, from which she retired in 1996. In her free time, she was an active member of the Gold Coast Art League, where she learned to paint and made many close friends. Josie enjoyed gardening and watching the butterflies and hummingbirds who visited her flowers.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Barras’ family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A family graveside service will be held on Saturday.
