Judy Carolyn Swearingen, 70, of Village Mills, died Monday, October 20, 2014.  She was born on January 1, 1944, in Houston, to Sadie Roach Veloz and John Veloz.  She had worked as a Certified Nurses Aide and was a member of First Baptist Church Village Mills.

Survivors include her husband, Jackie; grandchildren, Alexandria Freeman of San Diego, California, Tyler Freeman of Visalia, California, Richard Spellman, Megan Spellman, and Steven Spellman, all of Houston, Adam James of Buna, and Kendall James, Bo James, and Ashley James, all of San Antonio; sisters, Vickie Dawson of Austin and Carol Larson of Waller; and special nephews, Willie Roach and Kenny Roach.  She is preceded in death by her parents; son, John Freeman; and daughter, Julie Spellman.

A gathering of Mrs. Swearingen’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 12426 Highway 69 North, Village Mills, with interment to follow at Village Mills Cemetery, Village Mills.
