Harriet Francis Young, 88, of La Porte and formerly of Lumberton, died Monday, October 6, 2014.  Harriet was born in Athabasco, Alberta, Canada.  She was the daughter of Daniel Smith and Annie Stuart Smith.  Harriet married Lester Bankhead Young on January 10, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri.  She is a retired pharmacy tech at Highland Avenue Pharmacy.  She loved to paint and cook, but especially loved her family.   She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Silsbee.

Survivors include her children, Sharyn Louise Ferguson and her husband, Calvin, of La Porte and Lester Daniel Young and his wife, Linda, of Kilgore; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Young; grandson, Gregory Alan Ferguson; one sister; and one brother.

Her memorial service date will be announced at a later date.  Mrs. Young’s committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
