Mary Etta Dixon 
May 3, 1928 - September 26, 2014

Mary Etta Dixon, 86, of Lumberton, died Friday, September 26, 2014, at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation in Beaumont. She was born on May 3, 1928, to Edith Malone Hill and George E. Brown, in Beaumont. Mary enjoyed crocheting, listening to Christian music, and reading her bible. She was a loving mother and pleasant to be around.

 

Survivors include her children, Mary Bernice Swearingen of Lumberton; Bernard W. Dixon, Jr. of Lumberton; Roland E. Dixon and his wife, Claudi, of Fort Worth; and Mary Ruth of Beaumont; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dr. Marie McIntosh of El Paso and Betty Brown of New Braunfels; and brothers, George Brown and his wife, Antoinette, and Thomas Brown and his wife, Betty, both of Beaumont.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Dixon, Sr.; daughter, Edith J. Dixon; and brother, Reverend Bill Brown.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Dixon’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Victory Temple of Beaumont, 2630 South 11th Street, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
