Carlos Escamilla, Jr. 
November 4, 1931 - September 25, 2014

Carlos Escamilla, Jr., 82, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014. He was born in Port Arthur on November 4, 1931, to Amanda and Carlos Escamilla, Sr., and was a long time resident of Beaumont. Carlos was an Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and Lamar University.

 

Through his professional career as a Registered Medical Technologist he helped many people in the community for more than four decades. A faithful Catholic, he was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. For over thirty years, he frequently volunteered at St. Anne School and Kelly High School. Many people will remember his voice as the announcer at Kelly High School football games, something he enjoyed doing long after his own children graduated. He loved athletics and coached several Little League sports teams in the local area.

 

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Dina; brother, Joe Escamilla of Vidor; children, Fred Escamilla and his wife, Beverly, of Beaumont; Terry Escamilla and his wife, Becky, of Lafayette, Colorado; Randy Escamilla and his wife, Brenda, of Midlothian ,Virginia; Mary Anne Capo and her husband, Ed, of Houston; and Katrina LaCombe of Houston. His grandchildren are Craig Escamilla and his wife, Laura, Brent Case and his wife, Christine, Meghann Case, Charles Escamilla, Stephen Escamilla, Maddox Escamilla, Justin Escamilla, Ariel Escamilla, Lakin Escamilla, Sam Capo, Wesley Capo, and Zane LaCombe; and a great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carlos was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Socorro Adams and Frances Adams.

 

A gathering of Mr. Escamilla's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2014, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2014, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
