Kember O. Porterfield, 66, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, September 23, 2014, at College Street Health Care Center, Beaumont. A lifelong native of Beaumont, he was born on January 21, 1948, to Hazel Doiron Porterfield and Woodson Porterfield.

Kember was a graduate of South Park High School where he excelled at track and field and baseball. He went on to graduate from Lamar Institute of Technology, Beaumont.

He is survived by his brother, Woodson O. Porterfield Jr. of Lufkin; sister, Gayle Stanford and her husband, Robert of Lufkin; and five nieces and nephews.

A gathering of Mr. Porterfield’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Parkersburg Cemetery, Clinton, Oklahoma.
