Joe Gennusa 
February 10, 1920 - September 15, 2014

Joe Gennusa, 94, of Beaumont, died Monday, September 15, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont with his niece, Louise Fazio, by his side.  He was born on February 10, 192O, in Port Arthur, to Olimpea Gennusa and Frank Gennusa, and had been a longtime resident of the area. Joe was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II and was a retired painter.

 

Joe is survived by his nieces, Louise Fazio and her husband, Louis Harmon of Beaumont; Katherine Permenter and her husband, Dallon, of Center;  Polly Holder of Port Arthur; Carolyn Borne and her husband,  Michael, of Dallas; Sandy Winston and her husband, Bob,  of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Debra McNatt and her husband, Bill, of Tennessee; nephews, Reverend Sammy Tippet and his wife, Tex, of San Antonio, Larry Tippet of Pineland, Louisiana, and Randy Kendrick of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Eunice Morgan Gennusa; parents; brothers, Bill, Frank, Augustine, and Moses Gennusa; sister, Katherine Himel; nephews, Frank Gennusa, Jr. and Frank “Bubba” Gennusa; and niece, Pauline Gennusa.

 

A gathering of Mr. Gennusa’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2014, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
