Larry L. Winberry 
November 4, 1929 - September 7, 2014

Larry L. Winberry, 84, of Sour Lake, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 7, 2014. He was born on November 4, 1929, to Mary Hester Reed Winberry and James L. Winberry, in Urania, Louisiana. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Sour Lake, where he served as deacon for many years. He retired as District Manager of Citgo Oil Company following a forty year career. Larry was also a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.

 

Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Sara Winberry; son, Marcus L. Winberry and his wife, Renée, of Conroe; daughters, Dorian Gaye Lokey and her husband, Jeff, of Spring and Lynda Holder and her husband, Mike, of Palestine; grandchildren, Caitlin Ford and her husband, Michael; Blake Lokey; Luke Holder; Taylor Winberry; Daniel Lokey; and Sara Winberry; and great-grandchildren, Leah, Kailey, and Kamden Ford; brothers, Doug Winberry and Kent Winberry; and sister, Virginia Littlefield.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin Winberry.

 

A gathering of Mr. Winberry’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Sour Lake with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11, 2014, in the church located at 765 6th Street in Sour Lake. His interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery with services provided under the direction of Broussard’s.
