"Pat" Washington Herbert, 59, of Beaumont, died Friday, September 5,
2014, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas-Beaumont. She was born on
September 18, 1954, to Phyllis Washington and Joe Washington, Sr., in Bay City,
Texas. Mrs. Herbert was a member of the 1973 graduating class
of Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Arthur, Texas. She then
matriculated at Bauder Fashion College in Arlington, Texas where she
received degrees in Interior Design and Fashion Design. She married her devoted
husband, Albert Herbert, in 1978.
Mrs. Herbert's artistry
and creativity were displayed through her work as a wedding planner, interior
designer, and cheerleading coach. She was also a former teacher and secretary
with the Beaumont Independent School District. Mrs. Herbert was colorful and
fun-loving, and brightened up any room she was in; she could always dazzle a
crowd with her storytelling and laughter. Her big heart, unwavering
strength and inspiring spirit will be truly missed.
Mrs. Herbert is
survived by her husband, Albert Herbert; father, Joe Washington Sr., and his
wife, Elizabeth, of DeSoto, Texas; brothers, Joe Washington, Jr. and his wife,
Meadow Lark, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Kenneth Washington and his wife,
Laurence Ann, of Spring, Texas; nieces Letitcia Herbert, Kendra
Washington, and Brandy Washington; nephews Kenneth Washington, Jr. and
Terence Washington; great nephew Kaleb Washington; brother-in-law Ferris
Herbert; and sister-in-law Beverly Harmon and her husband, Eric. She is
preceded in death by her beloved mother, Phyllis Washington.
Funeral
services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Westgate
Church of Christ Church, 6390 Westgate Drive, Beaumont, with interment to
follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Memorial contributions may be made
