Margaret "Char" Larkin 
August 13, 1930 - August 27, 2014

Margaret “Char” Larkin, 84, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014. She was born on August 13, 1930, to Edna Mae Wheeler and David Lester Nihiser, in East Chicago, Indiana. Char was the matriarch of the family and always enjoyed being with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She knew all of the family history and was an avid story teller. Char was always putting other people first, always positive, and always laughing.

 

Survivors include her children, James E. Larkin, Jr. of Beaumont; Margaret Orze and her husband, Ken, of Marietta, Georgia; William “Pat” Larkin and his wife, Maria, of San Antonio; and Patricia LaVoie and her husband, Andre, of Wichita, Kansas; ten grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; brother, David Lester Nihiser and his wife, Diane, of Logansport, Indiana; sister-in-law, Mary Looper of Derby, Kansas; many special nieces and nephews; and her special family, Nancy and Jim Jones and their family.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of over fifty years, James E. Larkin, Sr.; and sister, Shirley Nadine Miller.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Larkin’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., with Dan Nihiser officiating, Monday, September 1, 2014, at Broussard’s. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont.
