Carolyn Mitchell Murff 
October 14, 1941 - August 21, 2014

Carolyn Mitchell Murff, 72, of Hemphill, died Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Sabine Hospital in Hemphill. She was born on October 14, 1941, to Mary Addie Headen and George Fields Mitchell, Sr., in Beaumont. Carolyn was retired from the United States Postal Service.

 

Carolyn was a wonderful, caring person who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved being outdoors at her lake home where she caught lots of fish and found tons of beautiful arrowheads.

 

Passionate about cooking, some of her famous dishes to make were divinity and dirty rice. She was dedicated to watching her favorite sports NASCAR, football and bull riding. She was also an avid traveler and took many trips including Hawaii, Amsterdam and numerous cruises. In keeping with the times, she loved staying in touch with friends and family through Facebook.

 

Survivors include her sons, John Murff of Hamshire and Bill Murff and his wife, Susan, of Cypress; brother, George Mitchell of Fannett; grandchildren, Amanda Murff Seiders and her husband, Adam; Cpl. Jason Murff; Kasie Murff; and Danielle Murff; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Seiders and Henry Seiders; and friend, Don Hayes of Hemphill.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Dan Murff.

 

A memorial service for Ms. Murff will be at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

 

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, 4525 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84117, who have been so helpful in her great-grandson, Henry’s treatment.
