Larry Shelby O’Brien, 82, of Beaumont died Monday, August 18, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. A native of Beaumont, he was born on July 5, 1932, to Ruby LaRue O’Brien and Shelby Alvin O’Brien. Larry retired as the President of Vidor State Bank.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-years, Martha “Marty” O’Brien; sons, Larry Duane O’Brien and his wife, Connie, of San Augustine; Darrell Shelby O’Brien of Dade City, Florida; and Shelby Duane O’Brien of Beaumont; brothers, James Daniel O’Brien of Baytown and Terry Ellis O’Brien and his wife, Cheryl, of Vidor.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lonny Alvin O’Brien.

A gathering of Mr. O’Brien’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, with interment to follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Park, in Vidor.
