Oran Joseph Abshire, 81, of Sabinal, and formerly of Winnie, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at University Hospital, San Antonio. He was born April 25, 1933 in Kaplan, Louisiana, to Nola Cormier Abshire and O'Neal Abshire, and had been a resident of the area for sixty-five years.

 He is survived by son, Timothy Abshire and his wife, Jeanie, of Sabinal; stepdaughter, Ann Donahoe of Winnie; grandchildren, Jeffrey Comeaux, Monica Sisley, Timmy Abshire, Jr., Chrystal Douglas, Brian Donohoe, Lisa Munoz, Valerie Mouton, and Chad Owens; sister, Dorothy Bouley; numerous other family members; and a host of friends.

 Oran is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Ruth Abshire; grandson, Derek Munoz; and stepson, Jimmy Owens, brother, John Abshire; sisters, Laurney Trahan and Laura Abshire.

A gathering of Mr. Abshire’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2014, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
