Margarito “MM” Garcia, age 85, died Monday, August 4, 2014. MM was a native of Beeville and lived in Beaumont for sixty-two years. He retired from Texas A&M Rice Experiential Station in China having worked there for forty-two years. MM enjoyed bowling and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lala Garcia; and sister, Andrea Falcon.

Survivors include his daughters, Fidela Poff of Beaumont and Mary Morris and her husband, Charlie, of Vidor; son, Margarito “Sonny” Garcia II and his wife, Lynn, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Shawn Bergeron, Michael Barton, Tony Poff, Margarito “Sonny” Garcia III, Chris Garcia, Sara Tallina, Angela Watts, and Christina Monroe; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Pete Garcia; and sisters, Petra Juarez and Belen Butler.

A gathering of Mr. Garcia’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Lighthouse Worship Center, 880 West Cardinal Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.
