Robert W. Church
May 11, 1942 - July 16, 2014

Robert Wilson Church, 72, of Fannett, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Dubuis Hospital of Beaumont. A lifelong resident of the Beaumont area, he was born on May 11, 1942, to Mamie Jackson Church and Hickey Church.

Robert graduated from South Park High School. He was a truck driver for Merchants Fast Motor Lines most of his life, before working for Southern Mail Services. Robert retired to fish, work in the yard, and swing on his front porch. He also enjoyed flea markets and garage sales. Robert never met a stranger. If you knew Robert Church, you knew the “Robert Church Special” - immaculately clean vehicle, perfectly organized garage, and a perfectly maintained yard.

Robert loved his Whataburger, chicken fried steak, or any food Mom wouldn’t let him have. He loved to fish anywhere the fish were biting, especially Keith Lake. Robert had more rods and reels than imaginable and would “cull” them out and give them away so he could get new ones. He loved to hunt and prided himself on his fancy deer blinds. His favorite part was fixing up the deer camp, but not necessarily shooting the deer. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or rig to make better.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Donna Church of Fannett; daughter, Cary Coffin and her husband, Frank Jr., of Beaumont; granddaughter, Holly Crutchfield and her husband, Zac, of Beaumont; great-grandson, Lucas Crutchfield of Beaumont; and brother, Tommy Church of Lumberton.

A gathering of Mr. Church’s family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  His committal will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2014, at Broussard’s Crematorium, 5150 Stivers Drive, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Church’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
