Wallace Kattawar
August 15, 1937 - July 14, 2014

Wallace Kattawar, 76, of Beaumont, died Monday, July 14, 2014. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was born on August 15, 1937, to Lena Campise Kattawar and Michael John Kattawar. Wallace retired as a project manager in the construction industry.

Wallace was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He was an avid bowler who dreamed of playing professionally. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed the outdoors.  He felt at home at the beach, whether he was at the family beach cabin, travelling with Darlene to exotic and tropical places, or visiting San Diego.

He loved sports, from coaching baseball to watching football, baseball, basketball, golf...anything that was on TV, he would watch, and talk sports and players with his sons and friends.  His pride and joy were his grandkids. You could really see his eyes light up and his smile widen when he was with them.

He was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and really enjoyed attending mass. Wallace also loved spending time barbecuing and being with his dogs throughout the years. Darlene says she will really miss how he loved to clean the kitchen after a day of cooking.

Wallace will be greatly missed by family, friends, and anyone who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Darlene Kattawar; sons, Michael W. Kattawar and his wife, Emily, of San Diego and Mark C. Kattawar of Beaumont; and grandchildren, Michael Kattawar, Victoria Kattawar, and Nicholas Kattawar.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Christian Vigil for Mr. Kattawar will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a gathering to follow until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at St. Michaels Orthodox Cemetery in Beaumont.
