Aubert D. "Bud" Harris
July 18, 1938 - July 12, 2014

As the angels in Heaven rejoice at the homecoming of this child of God, we mourn the loss of Aubert D “Bud” Harris who departed this life on July 12, 2014, at home, in Beaumont. He was born in Coy, Lonoke, Arkansas, on July 18, 1938, to his now deceased parents, Aubert Butler Harris and Rubye Ellen Golden Harris. His family moved to Sulphur, Louisiana, in about 1942, and the Lake Charles area became his home for nearly forty years before moving to east Texas. Bud was a graduate of Southwest Louisiana Trade School and a veteran of the United States Army.

He was the Product Applications Specialist and a consultant for Pentair for many years. Bud was actively involved in global products management and in following Pentair’s vision of innovative and practical engineering. He recently invented a new device which has been submitted for a U.S. patent. And as dedicated as he was to his professional career, he was equally devoted to supporting his wife, Judy’s, antique and estate sales business.

At home, his enthusiasm was both creative and industrious. He once built a beautiful four bedroom, two-story home in the country. His expertise ranged from creating backyard landscape ponds to building custom fences to adding ginger-breading to homes, just for the joy of doing it.

On the rare occasion when Bud relaxed, he spent that time with his family and friends who are missing him terribly. He attended Cathedral Church and enjoyed the fellowship there with many gracious friends.

Bud is survived by his loving and devoted wife of twenty-seven years, Judith “Judy” Nancy Carruth Harris; one brother, Larry Phil Harris of Sulphur, Louisiana; three daughters, Sharon Lynn Watkins and her husband, Jerry, of Corpus Christi; Robin Gail Edwards and her husband, Keith, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Laura Alayne Sepich of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one step-son, Daron Marcus Knight and one step-daughter, Danell Susan Hughes, both of Beaumont. His joy was his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In Heaven, he is reunited with his parents; three brothers, Joe Curtis, Don Carroll and Roger Glynn Harris; one daughter, Jennifer Lee Harris; and step-son, Dale Buchanan Knight.

A gathering of Mr. Harris’ family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Broussard’s, officiated by his friend and pastor, Reverend Harold Jones. His interment will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Beaumont.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Barnett of Lumberton, Keith Barnett of Beaumont, Keith Edwards of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mark Harrellson of Humble, Warren Eugene Ivey of Sour Lake, Jacob Sevin of Gonzales, Louisiana, Jerry Watkins of Corpus Christi, and Duane Winkler of Kansas City, Kansas. Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Barnett of Lumberton, Don Corgey of Beaumont, Wayne Carruth of Colmesneil, Larry Phil Harris of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Dick Thevenot of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
