Frances Viola Smart, 62, of Sour Lake, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on August 9, 1951, to Lillie Roccaforte Moore and John Paul Moore, in Port Arthur. Frances worked with her husband, Dale, at their business, DS Carriers Inc.

She attended Parochial school in Groves and Port Arthur, where she graduated from Bishop Byrne High School. Frances then attended Lamar University. She was a generous, caring person who spontaneously gave her time and resources to those she saw in need. Knowing Frances was considered a privilege to all who knew her.   

Survivors include her husband of thirty-five years, Dale Smart; daughter, Adrienne Dixon of Sour Lake; sons, John Smart and his wife, Peggy, of Hankamer; and Anson Smart and his wife, Faye, of Frisco; three grandchildren; mother, Lillie Moore of Groves; siblings, Rebecca Bruner and her husband, Bob, of Crystal Beach; Stacie Swearengin and her husband, Dobie, of Sour Lake; Mary Anne Fadhli and her husband, Adam, of Groves, Matthew Moore and his wife, Angie, of Groves; and Michelle Bailey of LaPorte; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service for Mrs. Smart will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2014, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street at Harrison Avenue, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
