Doris Nell Leatherwood 
November 23, 1945 - July 6, 2014

Doris Nell Leatherwood, 68, of Lumberton, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.  Doris was born November 23, 1945, in Galveston, to Mable Ethridge Rogers and John Rogers.  She grew up in Beaumont and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1964.  She married Charles Leatherwood on March 18, 1967, and they were married for forty-seven years.  Doris was an amazing mother who gave her all to her two children.  She was a loving wife, Sunday school/VBS teacher, loyal friend, and above all, a Christian.  Her love for Christ shone to everyone she met and she wasn’t afraid to spread the love of God!

 

Survivors include her husband, Charles Leatherwood; son, Chuck Leatherwood and his wife, Brenda, of Nederland; daughter, Kristin Torrez and her husband, Jared, of Lumberton; nephew-son, Larry Moncrief and his children, Sean and Bradley; grandchildren, Travis Leatherwood and Brittany Leatherwood; brother, John D. Rogers of Lufkin; sister, Louise Moncrief of Beaumont; and many beloved family members, friends, and pets.

 

She is preceded in death by her mother; and aunt, Mamie Ethridge.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Leatherwood’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.  Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery, Port Neches.
