Stanley James Leger, Sr. 
March 11, 1934 - June 24, 2014

Stanley James Leger, Sr., 80, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Christus Hospital-St Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on March 11, 1934, to Ida Hebert Leger and Avelia Leger, in Lyons Point, Louisiana. Stanley was a longtime local taxidermist and outdoors man. 

 

Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Flora Leger; sons, Jim Leger and his wife, Elaine, of Texarkana and Mark Leger and his wife, Eileen, of Sour Lake; daughter, Denise Mackan and her husband, Blake, of College Station; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and sister, Gertrude Thibodeaux of Crowley, Louisiana.

 

Stanley was active in youth baseball with his sons.  He served the community through Y.M.B.L., Ducks Unlimited, and local bass clubs.  In later years he was an avid birder. 

 

A gathering of Mr. Leger’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. with his memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont. A private burial will be held immediately following in his birthplace, Louisiana.
