Nina B. Ritchie 
July 22, 1924 - June 23, 2014

Nina Bernice Ritchie, 89, of Sour Lake, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at Calder Woods in Beaumont. She was born on July 22, 1924, to Rose and Walter Irwin, in Gregory, Arkansas.

 

Nina was a longtime resident of Beaumont. She worked as a realtor in California, Montana, and most recently for American Real Estate in Beaumont. Working well into her 80s, she truly loved her career earning every award offered by American including the prestigious All American Award, which she was awarded 12 times. She was a strong and driven woman, an inspiration to those who knew her both professionally and personally. In her free time she enjoyed working on her patio, planting flowers, visiting with her brothers and sisters, trips to Crystal Beach, and Montana, but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Nina is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Nathan and Billy Irwin; sisters, Florence Melton and Ruth Irwin; and daughter, Barbara McDermott.

 

Survivors include her brothers, Calvin Irwin of Grayland, Washington and Jack Irwin of Coquille Oregon; sister, Margie Cagle of Sheridan, Arkansas; daughter, Sharon Mazdra of Beaumont; grandsons, Nathan Mazdra and his wife, Ashley, of Beaumont and Jared McDermott and his wife, Amber, of Billings, Montana; granddaughters, Erin Linscomb and her husband, John, of Sour Lake and Mary  Owens and her husband, Jeff, of Houston; great-grandchildren, Cole Mazdra, Kiley and Bailey Jo Radley, Olivia Dennis, Liam and Lila McDermott, and Faith Linscomb. 

A memorial service for Ms. Ritchie will be at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
