William “Bill” Charles Smith, Jr., 79, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.  Born August 13, 1934, in Rochester, New York, Bill was the son of Daisy Mae Yaeger and William Charles Smith, Sr., Bill was a United States Navy Veteran and retired from the Navy after twenty-two years of service. He also retired from teaching after ten years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Alice Smith; daughters, Debra Lee Bone and her husband, Terrence, of High Springs, Florida and Cheri Rhymes and her husband, Butch, of Nome; brother, James Smith; grandchildren, Samuel Motley of Eugene, Oregon, Alexandra Motley of Gainsville, Florida, Jesse Bone and Jazmine Bone, both of High Springs, Florida, Megan Burge and her husband, Jason, of Lumberton, and Courtney Graham and her husband, Derek, of Hamshire; and one great-grandchild, Slade Burge of Lumberton.

A gathering of family and friends for Mr. Smith will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday evening, June 20, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Broussard’s followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
