Ernest John Breda, 93, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014. He was born on May 4, 1921, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, to Rose Szampias Breda and James Breda. Ernest was a United States Army veteran and retired after thirty-five years as senior chemist from DuPont.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Ruth Breda of Beaumont; son, James M. Breda of Nederland; daughters, Mary E. Gilliam of Midland and Susan L. Alani of Sugarland; grandchildren, Amanda Breda, Colleen Alani, Phillip Alani, Jarod Gilliam, JoAnna Price, Joyce Able, Alexandra Alani, Lauren Alani; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Zubrecky and Veronica Breda.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Emery S. Breda

A gathering of Mr. Breda’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m.,  Friday, June 13, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont. A private committal will be held at St. Margaret Cemetery, Albany, Louisiana.
