Sidney Henry Cohen, 72, of Beaumont, passed away May 24, 2014.  Sid was born May 18, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, and was the son of Hannah and Arthur Cohen. 

Since 1964, Sid had been a certified public accountant.  A 1963 graduate of Northwestern University, he began his career with Arthur Andersen, L.L.P.  For eighteen years, Sid worked in Chicago and New York, with over eight years as a partner of the firm.  Sid moved to Beaumont in 1981 and became a founding partner of Pollans & Cohen, CPAs.  In 2004, he became the Chief Financial Officer of the Beaumont Foundation of America.  Sid retired in 2013.

Sid was involved in many professional and civic organizations through the years, including Boys’ Haven of America, Inc., President; Baptist Hospital Advisory Board of Directors; Board of Directors of IEA-Inspire, Encourage, Achieve; Gift of Life Program; Board of the Salvation Army; and Board of the Beaumont Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Sid was kind and generous to all in need and loved helping people.

Sid loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years, served on several Finance Committees, and was a church trustee.

He loved traveling with his wife, Mary Ann, and together they have been all across the United States and many foreign countries.  Sid was especially proud to say that he had been in all fifty states of the United States.

Sid is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Aldridge Cohen; daughters, Beth Cohen-Nault and her husband, Patrick, and Debbie Ippolito and her husband, Joe; son, David Patterson and his wife, Donna; three grandchildren, Lea and Luke Ippolito and Nathaniel Nault; sister, Eileen Skora and her husband, Warren; brother-in-law, David Aldridge and his wife, Tanya; and his special “little girls,” Misty and Callie.  He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas.

A gathering of Sid’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening May 27, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
