Henrietta Morua, 90, of Nederland, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at Cypress Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation, Port Arthur. She was born on November 11, 1923, in Port Arthur, to Reyes and Alfonso Montalvo, Jr., and had been a lifelong resident of the area.
Henrietta will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was active in the Altar Society at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Henrietta enjoyed cooking and caring for family members. She was also a professional shopper and holiday planner.
Henrietta is survived by her son, Jesse V. Morua and his wife, Diane, of Nederland; grandchildren, Kimberlee Bordonaro and her husband, Scott and John Hallmark and his wife, Amy, all of Friendswood; Kristin Burman and her husband, David, of Orange; and James H. Morua of New York; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse Montalvo and his wife, Toby, of Port Arthur; sister, Alice Martinez and her husband, Porfirio, of Port Neches; son-in-law, Percy Hallmark of LaBelle; and brother-in-law, John Y’Barbo of Groves.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Jesse G. Morua; daughter, Linda Hallmark; parents; sisters, Catherine Y’Barbo; Stella Garcia and brother-in-law, Freddie Garcia; Elizabeth and Caroline Chapa; and Eleanor Collazo; and brother, Alfred Montalvo.
A gathering of Mrs. Morua’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with her Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
