Donald "Don" Dominico Pace

Donald “Don” Dominico Pace, 85, of Beaumont, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation, Beaumont, surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong native of Beaumont, he was born on December 4, 1928, to Margaret Zummo Pace and Marion Mitchell Pace. Don graduated from Beaumont High School in 1945 and Lamar University in 1955 with a BBA in accounting. He was employed as an accountant at Junker McMillan and later at Byrd, Smithy and Associates. Don was a long time member of St. Anne Catholic Church, and was active in the YMBL and various West End Baseball Leagues. Don’s love of baseball was well known with many people knowing him simply as Coach Pace. Don and Aileen, his loving wife of fifty-eight years, could also be seen courtside at every Lamar home basketball game. Survivors include his wife, Aileen Pace, of Beaumont; sons, Donnie Pace and his wife, Debbie, of Houston and David Pace and his wife, Ina, of Beaumont; daughters, Debbie Moy and her husband, Ed, of Manvel, Texas and Donna Pace of Beaumont; grandchildren, James Pace and his wife, Tracy, of China, Texas; Matthew Pace and his wife, Laura; Taylor Pace; Andrew Pace; Travis Wagner and Tyler Wagner, all of Beaumont; Linda Hayslip and her husband, Darren, of Austin; Carrie Smith and her husband, Doug, of Leander; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Margaret Pace; sisters, Lena Mae Pace and Mary Francis Outler; and brother-in-law, James Outler. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
