Clyde Vincent, 88, of Beaumont, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Park Manor Cypress Station Nursing Center, Houston. He was born on August 8, 1925, in Port Neches, to Della Broussard Vincent and Leonce Vincent, and had been a longtime resident of the area. Clyde was a United States Merchant Marine having served in World War II. He retired as a shift foreman from Texas Gulf Sulphur after forty years of employment.

Clyde was an amateur genealogist; and he founded the Acadians of Texas. Clyde will be remembered as a man that promoted the Cajun language and culture.

Clyde is survived by his sons, Ernie Vincent and his wife, Robin, of The Woodlands; Dick Vincent and his wife, Kay, of Houston; and David Vincent and his wife, Ana, of Franklin; grandchildren, Richard Vincent, Jr. and Carrie Stadjuhar; and great-granddaughter, Lulu Stadjuhar.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Clydelle Marek; sisters, Elena Collins and Hilda Harrington; and brother, Clifton Vincent.

A gathering of Mr. Vincent’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
